DoomSurfPrivacy Policy
Last updated September 29, 2026
DoomSurf has no accounts, no ads, and no third-party analytics or tracking. Your reading history, likes, and saved pages stay on your iPhone. The app sends us two small daily signals so we can tell whether people use it and which kinds of pages they enjoy.
DoomSurf is made by ThisBrainAI LLC (“we” and “us” on this page).
What stays on your iPhone
The cards you see, what you like, hide, or save, how your feed is personalized, and your settings are stored only on your device. We never receive them. Deleting the app deletes them.
What the app sends us
- A daily active marker. The first time you touch the app on a given day, it sends that date, the app version and build number, and a random installation identifier created when you first open the app. The identifier is not linked to your name, Apple ID, advertising identifier, or anything else about you, and it is replaced if you reinstall the app. Our server scrambles it with a secret key before storing it, so the stored value cannot be matched to your device. This request is signed with Apple's App Attest so we can reject fake reports.
- Anonymous daily interests. Once a day, the app sends up to five broad topic names (for example, “film” or “space”) that you engaged with most the previous day. This report carries no identifier of any kind, and we store only running totals per topic, so it cannot be tied to you or your device.
- Shared cards. When you share a card, the app sends the card's ID so we can create a link. We keep that link for 48 hours after the most recent share. Nothing about who shared it is stored.
We use this information only to understand how many people use DoomSurf each day and what kinds of pages to find more of. We do not sell it, share it for advertising, or use it to track you across other apps and websites.
How long we keep it
Daily active markers are kept for 90 days. After that they are combined into daily totals (for example, “120 installations were active on this date”) and the individual records are deleted. Topic totals contain nothing about individuals and are kept as product history. Shared-card links expire after 48 hours.
Web pages and search
When you open a page, it loads from the website that published it, and when you search a topic, the search opens in Google. Those sites receive your request as they would from any browser and are governed by their own privacy policies. Card images are loaded from the publishing websites as well.
Service providers
Our servers and content run on Cloudflare. Like any network service, Cloudflare processes your IP address to deliver requests and to limit abuse. We use it only for that short-lived rate limiting and do not store it with any of the data above.
Children
DoomSurf is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Your choices
Because we hold no account or contact details, the data we keep cannot identify you. Deleting DoomSurf removes everything stored on your iPhone and stops all reports. If you have a question or a request about your data, email us and we will help.
Changes
If we change what the app collects, we will update this page and the date above before the change ships.
For publishers
DoomSurf cards link to pages on your site, with a short description we write ourselves and, where you provide one, your page's preview image. To have a page or image removed, email support@thisbrain.ai with its address and we will take it down.
